Kakie refers to a series of two-person exercises in Goju-Ryu that are often referred to as “Push-Hands”. These exercises help the karateka in a number of areas, for example:
- strengthing of the arms,
- building the student's “root“
- sticky sensitivity to the opponent's arms
- sense of the opponent's balance
- techniques for unbalancing the opponent
- setup for locking techniques
- coordination of the body (hip, etc.)
